A word about gaining mass:
I overheard a couple of guys in the gym the other day:
“So you trying to gain muscle?”
-”no, more like gain mass”
What on earth are they talking about?
The whole concept of “gaining mass” can often be misleading. Often when we think if gaining mass we somehow visualize becoming bigger, not necessarily more muscular, just bigger. There is even a whole industry of mass gaining supplements out there. So what is gaining mass?
People, if you are a grown adult, there are basically two ways of gaining mass, (excluding water weight etc), and that is either muscle, or fat, that’s basically it.
So please watch out that when you want to gain mass, go for adding muscle mass and not fat!
What about the supplements? Those could come in handy to add to your caloric needs in times when you need extra calories.
Even for skinny guys that want to gain weight, I would probably think they want to gain muscle and not fat.
Conclusion: Go for gaining lean muscle mass!!! not just “mass”!!
